Giving its judgment on the lawsuit filed by Microsoft, a court in Virginia ordered VeriSign Inc. to shut down 277 domain names as well as associated sites controlled by Waledac botnet. The botnet was reported to control 30,000 to 90,000 computers, with a capacity to send 1.5 Billion spam per day.

According to Microsoft on February 25, 2010, court granted it a judgment wherein the '.com' registry, VeriSign, will have to delete 277 domains featuring '.com' from its lists. Consequently, the link between the operators of Waledac and the botnet's infected PCs will be effectively snapped, the software giant reports.
