According to security researchers, they have just uncovered a phony antivirus program called "Security Essentials 2010." Apparently, the perpetrators copied insignificant parts of a real Microsoft security program so that they could make their own software appear genuine.

As per "2H 2009 Cyber Intelligence Report" by Cyveillance, improved technical sophistication is helping cybercriminals garner higher success, thus attacking more industries.

According to MessageLabs (now part of Symantec), a newly launched personalized e-mail attack is posing as a message from the New York Times (NYT). The attack was tracked at MessageLabs on February 24, 2010.

Sophos, the data protection and IT security company, has cautioned that cyber criminals in yet another attack against Twitter (the micro-blogging website) are trying to steal users' login credentials as well as compromise their accounts.
